Full details of prizes - there is far too much to list here - are on the contest website at http://www.songwritingcontest.co.uk

MEDIA COVERAGE – OPPORTUNITIES - RECOGNITION This is the contest that gets writers noticed by important people in the music industry. For example, Natalie Chua was quickly signed by Simon Cowell after she won the UK Songwriting Contest Open Catgeory. Every year contestants have their songs played on major radio stations, get interviewed on TV and radio and appear in the press all around the world. Many of these are new writers who have never even entered a contest before. This has led to many management and publishing offers and recording opportunities for UKSC contestants – see the News page on the website for details of some of these success stories. In the words of Channel 4 Television: "If you really want to make it as a songwriter this is the contest to enter" (Channel Four Television - Ideas Factory).

DON’T FORGET
A home recorded cassette/CD or a handwritten lyric sheet has as much chance of winning as an expensive studio production - because songwriting ability is being judged, NOT performance or production. See the website for full details.

The UK Songwriting Contest was launched with The BRIT Trust (the organisation behind The BRIT Awards) and is dedicated to promoting the art of songwriting and the discovery of new talent. It is staged in association with some of the biggest and most respected names in the UK and international music industry. We hope you will become part of this year's event.

We look forward to receiving your entries. If you have any questions please visit the website at www.songwritingcontest.co.uk We have added a lot of new information about the contest and you should easily find the answers to your questions there.

That’s it for now. Best wishes to everyone and good luck with all your songwriting projects, From the UKSC Team.
